Make a resolution in the New Year to eat more Asian food, both delicious and good for you. One of Charlotte's best new restaurants of 2019 is Zukku Sushi, which opened their second location (Tampa, FL is the first) and serves amazing sushi rolls, poke bowls or sushi burritos. Plan to meet a friend Charlotte's Zukku Sushi’s in the always fun Optimist Hall.
Zukku Sushi’s fare delighted Tampa Bay’s foodies when it opened in 2018 in the Heights Public Market at Armature Works in Tampa and is known for using only the best and freshest ingredients in their dishes.
Diners rave about Zukku Sushi on social media. "I got several of the rolls and the hamachi nigiri, and hands down Zukku is the best sushi in Charlotte. "My wife got one of the bowls and said it was amazing, too." "Huge selection of rolls and even a sushi burrito (it's basically an oversized roll) satisfying and delicious! Would for sure come back to try what else they have to offer. Also one of the rare gems that offer sake and ramune sodas! A+"
You can create your own masterpiece. Zukku means canvas, and in this Asian hot spot, the rice is the canvas. You can order your dish as a burrito or bowl and customize it with protein and veggies. Best of all, you do it all online and pick it up without waiting.
It's as easy as 1,2,3! Start with white or brown rice or go veggie with mixed greens (bowl only).
1. Add delicious panko chicken; raw ahi tuna, salmon, spicy tuna or Hamachi (yellowtail); a spicy crab mix or fried tofu.
2. Choose a sauce and veggies. Drizzle spicy mayo, tangy ginger dressing, Ponzu or poke sauce, sweet eel, Siracha Vin, sweet Thai or sweet and spicy. It comes with mixed green and carrots, but you can customize your dish. For $.50, add a dash of cucumbers, edamame beans, roasted corn, cream cheese, asparagus, steamed broccoli or grilled pineapple, wakame seaweed salad, avocado for $.75.
3. Top it off with cilantro, scallions, tempura or wonton chips, sesame seeds, pickled red onions, pickled serrano peppers or for $.50 more, choose roe or spicy Nori.

Best of all is their boutique drink menu featuring outstanding sake, wine, Sapporo beer or soda. The sake menu features sweet Nigori, full-bodied Junmai, a dry Junmai Ginjo, delicate Junmai Diaginjo or sweet fruity concoction (cucumber, lychee or white peach). Take home a Sake Bomb Kit (souvenir pint glass, sake shot glass and chopsticks) for just $15, a reminder of your delightful repast.
You can order in or take out Zukku, and it's a fantastic choice for a work meeting or business luncheon, even a birthday, wedding, fundraiser or Super Bowl! Their catering team is experienced and in addition to food everyone will be talking about, they do it all for you.

About Optimist Hall: Part food hall, part retail, and part creative office space, Charlotte's new Optimist Hall is all about moving the city’s food, trade and culture forward. With a name that recalls the beginnings of the industrial South and a space dedicated to innovation, sustainability, experimentation and urban renewal, this is a vision that will transform the city as it races to become one of the South’s best live/work/play communities. Optimist Hall is in a turn-of-the-century textile mill that sits on an 11.9-acre parcel on E. 16th Street in Charlotte’s Optimist Park neighborhood. It's just on the outskirts of town and in close proximity to the light rail, boasting views of the uptown skyline. The success of Charlotte’s 7th Street Public Market has shown there’s a demand for a food hall.
