University City Charlotte North Carolina is the area that contains the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with the residences and businesses that surround it. University City is one of three municipal service districts within Mecklenburg County North Carolina. If this service district were incorporated into a separate city, it would be the 10th largest city in North Carolina. One of the state's largest research parks is located in University City. Aptly named University Research Park, it links the academic excellence of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with the practical and real life experience of the surrounding businesses, making each other better and stronger while boosting the University City's productivity and wealth. The University and the University Research Park both attract plentiful business and government travelers to the area. Since many of these travelers stay for several days at a time and work during their visits, there are several extended stay hotels in the University City.
